I am an Undergraduate at Northeastern University

Please see my charitable wish list.

I hope you create a profile page like this and a charitable wish list, too.

About Me

I am the biggest animal-lover you have ever met! That includes my dog and cat (Taco and Tofu), my horse (Edgar Allan Pony), the hummingbirds outside my mom’s kitchen window, the wildlife I see when camping Yosemite, or the whales and elephants that I hope to see in person someday. This passion has shaped my studies, my weekend adventures, my philanthropy, and my career plans.

What People Call Me

My name is Emma, but my friends often call me, "Em."

What I Plan to do with My One Wild and Precious Life

After graduate school, I plan to become a climate scientist and advocate. I want to continue my research on how best to combat climate change and get better policies put into action!

My Academics

I’m a junior, majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Psychology. Because climate change threatens all my animal friends (and all of us!), I am excited to be working in Dr. Henderson’s lab on research into alternative energy sources.

My Extracurriculars

Outside of class, I am the Vice President of theWildlife and Conservation Club. When we are not out hiking and doing clean-ups, we work to spread awareness of the importance of protecting our natural environment. I’m also the Secretary of my sorority, Delta Delta Delta. As the name implies, we are all about change, and we support The Sierra Club. We are the Green Greeks! We maintain a sustainable lifestyle at our sorority house, and we promote that practice to all Greek life on campus!

My Athletics

I’m the goalkeeper on an undefeated club soccer team. I’ve met so many amazing people, and I love the competition. I’m also the co-captain of the intramural tennis team. We hope to bring home the championship this year!

My Jobs and Internships

I interned at the United Nations Foundation the year before last, and I got a great internship with Changing The Present this past summer.

I loved it! It was a great chance to make an impact, assume a tremendous amount of responsibility, and learn so much. It was also a lot of fun working with wonderful people from around the world. Now, I am continuing with them as a Community Engagement Intern, helping raise awareness at my college.

My Honors and Awards

Dean’s List every semester ・ Sorority Member of the Year ・ Environmental Research Grant

My Leadership

Founding two college clubs and representing my dorm in Student Senate have helped me develop my leadership skills.

My Heroes

My role models and heroes are Nelson Mandela, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Jane Goodall. Nelson Mandela's unwavering commitment to justice and equality during South Africa’s apartheid era inspires me. His resilience, forgiveness, and tireless efforts for reconciliation continue to shape a better world. Thich Nhat Hanh was a Zen master, peace activist, and prolific writer. His teachings on mindfulness and compassion resonate deeply with me. His emphasis on inner peace as a foundation for global harmony is profoundly impactful. As a primatologist and environmentalist, Jane Goodall’s groundbreaking research on chimpanzees transformed our understanding of animal behavior. Her advocacy for conservation and sustainable living motivates me to protect our planet for future generations.

My Grit and Determination

I work two part-time jobs to pay my school expenses and help support my younger siblings. Nothing is going to stop me!

My Pets

I share my life with a rescue dog and cat, Taco and Tofu. They’ve taught me the importance of responsibility, empathy, and unconditional love. Balancing their needs with my rigorous academic schedule has honed my time management skills. I’ve also volunteered at our local animal shelter, using my Spanish skills to help expand their outreach to underserved communities. This experience has deepened my commitment to service and broadened my understanding of effective communication. My pets have enriched my life immeasurably, and they continually inspire me to strive for a future where I can make a difference.

My Creative Pursuits

I am an avid reader, an aspiring writer, and a passionate photographer. I am also teaching myself how to play the guitar.

My Gaming

Gaming has been more than just a pastime for me; it’s a dynamic arena where strategy, teamwork, and creativity converge. Whether leading a raiding party in an MMORPG or analyzing game mechanics in a competitive shooter, I’ve honed skills that transcend the screen. My strategic thinking, adaptability, and ability to collaborate with diverse players mirror the qualities I bring to academic pursuits and leadership roles. Aspiring to design games that inspire others, I’ve even dabbled in coding my own indie projects. Gaming isn’t just entertainment—it’s a canvas for growth and innovation.
